The Long Island Junior Royals are proud to announce the commitment of former Forward, Noah Wild, to the University of Southern Maine for the Fall of 2016. Wild was a forward on the LI Rebels 16U Tier III midget team for the 2011-12 season, spent a year at Northwood Prep in Lake Placid, NY, and played with the Junior Royals for the 2013-14 season. Wild spent the 2014-15 season with the Philadelphia Revolution EHL Junior A team, returning to the Junior Royals for the end of season playoff run. For the 2015-16 season, Wild was the Captain of the New York Apple Core Junior A Premier team, and finished the season as the team scoring leader. According to Noah “the time I spent as a Rebel and Junior Royal helped me become the player I am today, and I am grateful for all I learned as a part of the Royals team with Coach Hoey and a part of the Rebels team with Coaches Corey, MacName, Dell’Isola”!

The Long Island Junior Royals wish Noah well as he continues his hockey career at the NCAA level with the USM Huskies! Noah’s mother, Lisa Wild, is our College Advisor, working with the Royals, Rebels and Lady Islanders. Please feel free to contact her (lisa.wild07@gmail.com) with any questions you might have before and during the college hockey process.

Jr Royals  goaltender from last season,  Brandon Perrone has been called up the NAHL by the Lone Star Brahmas.

Perrone is an impressive 10-2-1 in 14 games played this season. Furthermore, he holds the second best goals against average in the entire NA3HL (1.36) and also ranks in the top ten for save percentage at .925%.

“I’m biased but I think he’s one of the best goalies in all of Tier III hockey and I didn’t think it was a matter of if, it was a matter of when he was going to get called up,” head coach Al Rooney said about the young goaltender.

The 17-year-old native of Smithtown, NY, has given up two goals or less in his last 11 appearances.

Last season for the Jr Royals Perrone (5'8/160) was amongst the league leaders in all goaltending statistics and he led the charge in net with a 2.51 GAA and .926 save percentage, while posting a 22-7-1 overall record. His play throughout the season earned the star netminder a number of accolades, including MJHL First-Team All-Star, All-Star game MVP and he was given the league's Goalie of the Year award.
