Jr Royals goaltender from last season, Brandon Perrone has been called up the NAHL by the Lone Star Brahmas.
Perrone is an impressive 10-2-1 in 14 games played this season. Furthermore, he holds the second best goals against average in the entire NA3HL (1.36) and also ranks in the top ten for save percentage at .925%.
“I’m biased but I think he’s one of the best goalies in all of Tier III hockey and I didn’t think it was a matter of if, it was a matter of when he was going to get called up,” head coach Al Rooney said about the young goaltender.
The 17-year-old native of Smithtown, NY, has given up two goals or less in his last 11 appearances.
Last season for the Jr Royals Perrone (5'8/160) was amongst the league leaders in all goaltending statistics and he led the charge in net with a 2.51 GAA and .926 save percentage, while posting a 22-7-1 overall record. His play throughout the season earned the star netminder a number of accolades, including MJHL First-Team All-Star, All-Star game MVP and he was given the league's Goalie of the Year award.
